Call of Duty fans demand ‘remake treatment’ for classic maps after Season 1 launch

Call of Duty fans demand ‘remake treatment’ for classic maps after Season 1 launch

Call of Duty players have been requesting their favourite maps for remakes and remasters, and they’re not the ones that may spring to mind at first.

Call of Duty is back, with Season 1 kicking off yesterday and bringing a whole host of new weapons, modes, and more to Warzone and the newly launched Black Ops 6.

There are new maps, too, and a Hacienda remake is coming during the season. That’s sparked the eternal debate on the Call of Duty subreddit of which maps deserve another chance to shine, and the responses have ranged from the usual suspects to some surprising deep cuts.

Aquarium got a mixed response from Call of Duty fans

Call of Duty fans’ most-requested map remakes With so many entries in the Call of Duty series, it’s no surprise there are so many fan favourites, even from less popular entries like Call of Duty Ghosts.

Fans are calling for a wide range of maps from the 2013 title, with Warhawk, Strikezone and Free Fall particularly popular (although the former was remade in Infinite Warfare), while fans are torn on Black Ops 3’s Aquarium.

“Aquarium is s**t,” one commenter wrote, while another praised the map for the Search and Destroy game mode.

Detroit was also contentious, having arrived in Advanced Warfare in 2014, while one commenter joked “you forgot Nuketown” with the map appearing in a whole host of Black Ops games and Call of Duty Mobile.

I’ve always been more keen on Modern Warfare’s range of maps, but I was well catered for with last year’s remastered Modern Warfare 2 (2009) maps including Favela, Rust, and Terminal.
